Del Toro, nominado al Óscar a mejor director por "La forma del agua"

Con Del Toro fueron nominados Paul Thomas Anderson ("Phantom Thread"), Greta Gerwig ("Lady Bird"), Christopher Nolan ("Dunkirk") y Jordan Peele ("Get Out").

Los Ángeles.- El mexicano Guillermo del Toro fue nominado hoy a mejor director por “The Shape of Water” ("La forma del agua") para la 90 entrega anual de los premios Óscar por la Academia de Ciencias y Artes Cinematográficas (AMPAS, por sus siglas en inglés).

Con Del Toro fueron nominados Paul Thomas Anderson ("Phantom Thread"), Greta Gerwig ("Lady Bird"), Christopher Nolan ("Dunkirk") y Jordan Peele ("Get Out").

Llamó la atención que en esta categoría no fuera nominado Steven Spielberg por “The Post” y quien era considerado un fuerte contendiente para este año.

Del Toro en el pasado fue nominado a mejor película extranjera y mejor guion por "El laberinto del Fauno" y esta es su primer nominación a mejor director.

Del Toro se ubica como favorito para llevarse esta distinción ya que ha ganado con “La forma del agua” los premios de mejor director en los Globos de Oro y de los Critic’s Choice Awards.

Los ganadores se conocerán en una ceremonia de gala a efectuarse el 4 de marzo en el Teatro Dolby de Hollywood, en un evento que será transmitido a más de 200 países.
